William A's Corn Rock

Looks just like a rock!
This rock is what Great-Great Grandpa William A and Great Grandpa Jasper used to plant corn in Dalton.
Grandpa White used to keep it out by his shed and tell me about it all the time.
After breaking the ground they would run a chain through the hole in the middle and drag it across the ground with the side showing up. On the back side is a ridge that would cut a furrow just the right depth for the corn.
Then they would drop the corn in the furrow. At the end of the row, they would flip the rock over and drag it back over the furrow which would drag the dirt back towards the middle and pack the dirt to just the right depth.
This rock is in my backyard and I tell the story to anybody interested, and quite a few who are not interested!

White History Treasures

Welcome to “White History Treasures”
This will be a place that will hold pictures of special items such as letters, crafts, notes and my favorite… the first posting of Grandpa’s most prized possession.

His Grandpa Clinton’s wallet.

Grandpa used to bring this out all the time and hold it in his hands and look all over it and think about what Clinton used to carry in it. He passed it on to me and I know what it holds. A bit of Grandpa comes out every time I look at it.
I am proud to hold it for the next generation.

Enjoy…….
